  1. What is a Food tour?

    • An afternoon with Tour De Food is a great way to spend the day. You will visit restaurants, bars and specialty food shops that are locally owned and operated. Most of the chefs and owners are working hard to source their ingredients locally and are proud supporters of their community. You will be able to meet the artisans and learn more about the buildings they are in, the food they serve and what motivated them to get started in the business. At each stop you will get a tasting. Throughout the tour you will learn about the area and history that makes it so special.  We combine delicious food with historical architecture while walking through these beautiful towns.

  2. How much does a food tour cost?

    • Tickets prices range between $30.00 to $47.00 depending on the tour. That includes a guided tour, tapas portion tasting  or beverage at each stop and the opportunity to meet the chef or owner when they are available.

  3. Do I have to purchase tickets in advance?

    • Advance registration and purchase are required as the tours can sell out quickly. There are limited amount of spaces on each tour. Please reserve early to get your preferred day. Cash can be accepted with special arrangements. Please call 336-406-6294 to make your reservation.

  4. What if it's raining or snowing? 

    • The tours are held rain or shine. Please check weather conditions and dress appropriately. Tickets are non-refundable and cannot be rescheduled. In rare cases where there is severe weather conditions we reserve the right to cancel the tour. If this occurs, we will refund your tickets or reschedule your tour.

  5. What should I wear?

    • Please remember you will be walking two to three miles during the tour. The most important thing to wear is comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather and if in doubt bring an umbrella if it looks like rain or a coat in the cooler months. 

  6. How much food is served on the tour? 

    • The tours serve enough food for most guests, lunch is usually not necessary. You can expect tapas size portions at 5 to 6 stops.

  7. Are there adult beverages served on the tour? 

    • Each tour includes one stop where they will offer one of the following options selected by the restaurant; Champagne, Wine, Beer or Cocktail. Guests are more than welcome to purchase additional beverages if they desire. Proper ID is required to comply with NC liquor laws.

  8. Do you accommodate dietary restrictions and vegetarians?

    • Yes, please list all allergies and dietary restrictions and we will pass the information along to the restaurants, they will accommodate you to the best of their ability. There will be many vegetarian options along the way although one or two places will have limited options for you.

  9. Are the tours fun for locals? 

    • Absolutely! On our tours you will have the opportunity to meet the owners and chefs, and learn new things about each restaurant. It's also a great way to entertain your visiting guests! What better way to show off your city than to take them for a taste of it?

  10. Are bathrooms available on the tour? 

    • Yes, there are numerous opportunities to use the restroom.

  11. Is the tour suitable for children? 

    • Children are welcomed on our tours! Please keep in mind the tours are 3-4 hours long and involve a great amount of walking, standing and listening. If children intend on eating and participating in the tour, please purchase a ticket for them. Due to all portions being the same, at this time we do not offer a discount for children.

  12. Is the tour wheelchair or stroller accessible? 

    • Yes, we can accommodate strollers and wheelchairs, please let us know if you plan on having one.

  13. Are gift certificates available? 

    • Yes, please follow the Gift Certificate link to purchase yours. They make great gifts for weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, Mother's day, Father's day, graduation's, teacher appreciation gifts or just to cheer someone up.

  14. Can I book a private tour? 

    • We would love to book a private tour for you on a regular Saturday tour or another day of the week. They are great for birthday parties, bridal showers, anniversaries, corporate events and team building days. Please call us at 336-406-6294 in advance.

  15. Does the tour end at the same place we meet? 

    • The tour ends near the starting point. Maps and/or a return walk are available.

  16. Can I take photos? 

    • As long as the establishments allow it, we love and encourage it! Please be courteous of other tour participants if you plan on publishing your photos.

  17. Is there parking near the starting point? 

    • Yes, there is ample parking available at all  starting points. If you are participating in the Uptown tour the most cost effective parking is the lot across from the seventh street entrance of the Market.

  18. Is Gratuity included? 

    • Gratuities are not necessary for the restaurants & their staff, it is all included in your price. Although it is never expected, if you would like to tip your tour guide it is always appreciated. Standard gratuity in the service industry is 18%. Another way to show your appreciation is by writing a review on Trip Advisor or Yelp. You can also join in the conversation on Facebook and Twitter.

  19. How often are tours held? 

    • Tours are held every Saturday afternoon all year round. Please call us or check the schedule for availability for the tour you desire. Private group tours can be arranged during the week as well.

  20. What else should I know? 

    • Tour De Food acts only as an agent for the companies that supply food and beverages on the tours and cannot be held responsible for losses, accidents, injuries, and delays caused by persons engaged in carrying out the services provided by the tour. Photos and/or video may be taken on the tour… please let us know if you would prefer not to be photographed and/or filmed.
